Alcohol releases the 'beast in you'

It’s a fact that violence decreases in people when spirituality steps in.  But recent researches say violence increases even in spiritually inclined people if they consume alcoholic beverages.

A study by  Professor Peter R. Giancola of the psychology department of the University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences and one of  his former graduate students, Aaron Duke, have found  a relation between spiritual beliefs, violence and alcohol consumption.  Giancola said even the highly religious people get more aggressive when they drink alcohol.

Giancola said that he was originally trying to create a profile of risk factors to predict alcohol-related violence.

This preliminary study contained 520 subjects ranging in age from 21-35 from the Lexington and Central Kentucky region.

These findings, however, clearly indicate that alcohol "releases the beast within" even in highly spiritual persons, though the reasons for this still remain unknown.
